In partnership with Channel and Judith Clarke Studio, we embarked on a journey to actualize Queen Azizah of Malaysia's vision, bringing the timeless art of traditional silk weaving to the forefront during London Craft Week 2022. Our transformational efforts focused on the main hall within the Malaysian High Commission, where we transitioned a once-dark, wood-panelled space into a luminous, calico-lined exhibition area. The centrepiece of this transformation was a 15-meter Douglas fir pavilion that spanned the main exhibition room. This structure was engineered with a design that allows for effortless disassembly and future use. At the entrance, a motif inspired by one of the woven silk patterns was delicately applied with brass tacks, offering a graceful introduction to the exhibit. Collaborating closely with the Textile Surgery, expertly displaying them within the second exhibition room. Here, calico-wrapped walls served as an elegant backdrop, with a central Douglas fir plinth carefully showcasing Queen Azizah's cherished personal garments.
