Meal Deal Workshop’s inception can be traced back to the strong bonds of friendship that formed within a shared workshop space. Each of us, originally independent entities, found ourselves in a tight-knit environment, where the shared challenges of launching a fabrication venture led to mutual support and collaboration. As we borrowed from and assisted one another, our collective knowledge and skills grew, setting the foundation for what would become Meal Deal.

The pivotal moment came when we faced projects too substantial to tackle individually. It was then that we decided to unite formally as Meal Deal, ensuring that the wealth of expertise and collaborative spirit would endure even as we transitioned from our shared workshop to our current home in the historic Victorian railway services building in Forest Hill. Within these walls, we’ve established a comprehensive workspace, housing our design department, metal workshop, and joinery shop. Importantly, we’ve designed this space to foster open collaboration between departments, allowing us to seamlessly combine our skills.

Choosing our company name was no easy task, with numerous options considered. However, our moniker found its roots when a scrap dealer arrived at the shared workshop, offering a complete set of furniture salvaged from a chicken shop. This serendipitous event solidified our identity. The name “Meal Deal” reflects both the cost-efficiency achieved by combining our services and our belief that the journey of realizing our clients’ visions should be an enjoyable one.

Our team boasts diverse backgrounds in blacksmithing, joinery, welding, and design. While not every project necessitates every skill, this multiplicity ensures smoother execution for endeavours that demand interdisciplinary expertise. Furthermore, it simplifies the process for our clients, who can entrust their complex projects to a single, unified team. This translates to clearer time-lines, potential cost savings, and a single point of contact throughout the project’s duration.

Undoubtedly, challenges arise when bringing a project to life, whether it’s a 16-ton blue concrete sculpture or an oak chair. However, we are committed to guiding our clients toward their envisioned outcomes with precision and dedication. At Meal Deal Workshop, we pride ourselves on transforming ideas into reality while making the journey as enjoyable and efficient as possible.
